The British Properties neighbourhood was created in 1931 when the Guinness family purchased and received development rights to 4,700 acres on the West Vancouver mountainside. The family agreed with community leaders that the dramatic sweep of land would be the perfect location for an exclusive residential community, and agreed to finance the construction of the Lions Gate Bridge so that new residents of The Properties would have a permanent link to the city. Their vision was realized . . . and then some.
